2016 PL Week Five
Hi, everyone! I'm back with my Week Five spread! This week is a two-page spread, separated by a monthly divider, so I used a different style on each side! Read on for more!
The left hand side has a bright poppy red/yellow/teal/green color scheme. That sounds like a lot but I think it works. It was so fun to use bright colors!
This page is an homage to women I admire. I used an Amy Poehler quote/picture and a picture of Beyonce performing at the Super Bowl that I found on google images. I also added a shaker pocket with a "star" wood veneer The patterned paper on the left was a random find from the crop I attended a few weeks ago and it dictated the color scheme for this page.
The green 6x6 marble patterned paper in this pocket is from the CT January PL kit. I used my silhouette to cut out a feather and inked over it with some pigment inks in coordinating yellow and green. It didn't turn out exactly how I had hoped, but it has an "art journal" quality to it and it fits the look of this page, so I'm happy. I sewed through the middle of the feather and pulled up the edges a bit to give it some dimension. I got this feather idea from Dearly Dee. I love her blog and the way she uses the CT kits! Check it out if you're a subscriber, she's awesome!
The right side of this page has a navy blue color theme. The top right card and the quote for the week were chosen because my dad had a medical emergency. I always struggle with how to journal "real" feelings. So I added some song lyrics from a song that perfectly captures my feelings about the situation. It's not intentionally vague, but it's a reminder of an event that was painful without being painful to see in my album.
For some reason, I took a lot of pictures of my feet this week. More than usual, I mean! So I added three of me in different places- work, gym, casual. I added one of the journal cards from Amy Jo Creates. On top of that is the heart that came off the Citrus Twist kits bag. I stick it on the jounral card. I like how the vertical heart is on top of the "love" and it echoes the shape of my feet in the pictures surrounding it.
I also finally decided how to deal with the back of the baseball card dividers I am using to seperate each month. I ordered the Basic Grey warehouse box and it came with a bunch of 12x12 sheets that I don't have much use for! So I cut them down to back the calendar page and add a little bit of interest. Here is the spread with the month to the right....
... and to the left with the Basic Grey paper backing it. I like how this looks a lot!
Thanks for reading! i hope you liked it!
I love all of this, especially the blue layout and the Amy Poehler quote!!!
