2016 PL Week Three
Hi, everyone and welcome back to week three of my Project Life layouts! This week is a 2-page spread. I got a lot of supplies from a crop I attended so I don't go into a lot of detail, but there's a cute stamping idea I stole from Kelly Purkey! read on for more.
So I had a lot of photos this week, mostly of my dog! I also added an insert to celebrate the birth of my brand new niece (!) but I didn't post it because it's just gooey baby pictures!
I love this foot selfie I took of my dog in the kitchen begging for food. I did some messy stamping. I added a wood veneer banner with a green puffy sticker from CT January kit. The monthly card has my new staple, the color-coordinated ombre chevrons! LOVE THIS!
I did have a blank pocket to fill. I used some patterned paper in my color scheme from the crop, plus a tag I got frmo CT, tied with blue and white twine. Good way to fill a pocket and give the eye a rest.
This is some stamping magic! I'm not the best stamper, but Kelly Purkey makes it look so easy! I started off using big letter stamps spelling out "our home." Before I stamped, I laid down some washi that was the length of the "home sweet home" from the CT kit. After I stamped, I peeled up the washi (CAREFULLY!) and stamped the "home sweet home in the negative space. Then I added the green plus signs on either side. This photo really helped me determine my color scheme for this week. I love blue and green, so I am happy about this!
This is nothing super special, but I thought it was a clever way to mark the MLK Jr. holiday that happened this week. I took a screenshot of an instagram post (possibly by Khloe Krdashian? Don't judge me!) and sized it to fit the pocket. I added the date of the holiday and wood veneer arrow so give it a little pizzaz. I just like the way it was styled and gave some props to MLK day better than just saying "welp, I got the day off work so...."
The pocket on the left is such a wildcard (GET IT? lol). I had this blank space and some patterned paper from the crop. I'm such a sucker for birds so when I saw a die cut blue bird at the crop, I instantly grabbed it. I layered some paper and the little leaves. I knew I needed to add something to make it a little edgier, so I grabbed this CT wood veneer that went exactly with the photo on the right of my boo occupying his nephew's teepee while the kid threatened to huff and puff and blow it down. That is such a cute story, looking back I wish I had written it down, but I couldn't find a good way to do that. So, I'll just have to rely on my memory. But I like the way it looks.
My favorite thing about this spread is the color. The blue and green feel so natural to me, and the wood veneer and leaf puffy stickers added another dose of "nature."
Thanks for reading and I'll be back soon with week four!
