2016 PL Week Two
Happy Thursday, y'all! Today I'm sharing my first week layout! Keep reading for a freebie cut file!
First, let me say I did not like where this layout was going at first. I don't love pink but I challenged myself to use it because the kit clubs I belong to seem to *love* it and i have to use it! It wasn't really until I took the photos for this post that I realized I really liked some of the individual cards, so maybe pink is growing on me after all and I can start to work it in bit by bit. But enough about me and my neuroses!
The top left card is one of my favorites. I cut down a picture of my awesome Beyonce-inspired coffee mug into a circle and mounted it on a Studio Calico journal card with a circle space in the middle. I used some old SC weekday stamps and managed to get them arranged in a circle shape. I tried to be super careful when I stamped to get perfectly around the photo, but I kind of missed. What can I say? I am not a very careful person! I added some (intentionally messy) stamping in the bottom right and a few white enamel dots to give it texture without taking away from the simplicity of it. The second card is of the beautiful sunrises we've been having around here and that photo helped set the color scheme for this layout. I used a cut apart label and puffy sticker from Citrus Twist kits, along with a stamp from an old SC kit.
These are just photos I took snuggling with my pup at bedtime. I used my Cameo to cut out a script "snuggles" and tiny attached it. I flanked it with pink heart puffy stickers and stapled a few word phrases from the CT cut apart. This is actually two 3x4 photos printed on one 4x6. I used picframe to add a little border.
Here's a closeup of the cut file!
Here is my weekly standard card with some yellow chevrons from the CT puffy sticker page. I LOVE THE OMBRE CHEVRONS! If I had a million of these little stickers, it would not be enough! The photo on the right is of an accomplishment I made at work. I was so proud of myself! "Yippee" is right! The word stickers "tomorrow is fresh with no mistakes in it" really captures how I've been feeling about work lately.
I REALLY like this card! (Probably because it has blue on it...) My nephew is wearing the most adorable R2D2 sweatshirt! the picture was not the best quality because I couldn't get him to sit still (he's 3... there's no controlling him!) so I increased the contrast and used a black and white filter. I pulled some blue SC vellum stickers from my stash and used the CT letter stickers for "swag." I added a pink phrase sticker and some yellow enamel dots to bring some yellow into the spread. The card on the right is Elise Blaha's quote card. Even though he doesn't appear in this week's spread, I thought it was a romantic sentiment. So I added the "XO" from the CT in yellow and a pink "together" word sticker. Looking back, I wish I had tiny attached it in a different place, but I like the graphic bold look of this card a lot.
I pulled this pink paper from a 6x6 pad in my stash. I thought the pluses looked like snowflakes and it's pink so I'm glad I could use it. the weather stamp is from an old SC kit. Even though it is a super cute concept, it never comes out quite right... I think the numbers are just too tiny! I fussy cut a January from one of the SC cards and used the negative space from the snowflake cut file. I added some yellow star stickers and yellow and blue labels to bring in some color.
This is a snowflake cut file that I layered on a perfectly pink and yellow CT 6x6 paper. It's the same paper backing the picture to the right. I added bullet journaling printed on my laser printer and yellow enamel dots. the tickets on the top right are from SC kit. I don't know how else I would use those and the colors worked so I added them. The black made me like this card a bit more and gave it some contrast. The photo on the right is of some vegetables we roasted for dinner one night, stamped with the Kelly Purkey Travelogue stamp and some washi. The yellow speech bubble is from the CT pack.
So that's it for the layout. Click here for the cut file. I am new to both blogging and Silhouette, so if you have any trouble with this, please leave a comment here or on instagram (@hello_elle_wood). I'll try to troubleshoot it! Also, if you use bloglovin', make sure you follow me there, too!
Thanks for reading!
