Flashback Friday! Plus a note about Studio Calico
Today, we take a break from regularly scheduled programming to skip back to 2014, a fine year indeed. I have become so obsessed with PL (and I have accumulated SO MUCH product recently!) that I decided to go back to my pre-PL days and make an album with my old instas. It's all 4x4s and I'm giving myself permission to be as creative and wacky as I want! My goal is controlled yet unexpected pages like the very talented (and very sweet person!) Sticker Therapy,. Practice makes perfect! Here's my title page. Read on for the first layout, "A Snowy Billy Day."
This documents the first event of 2014 for us, as I am mainly going in chronological order. It was a rare and treasured snow day!
I don't usually do titles for my weekly PL layouts, so it was fun and frustrating to try to think of something for this. I think it works! I used some thickers, some spare patterned paper from Citrus Twist and either Basic Grey or Fancy Pants warehouse boxes I got recently. A fun trick I am learning is to use one side of the paper for one card and flip it over for another- BAM! Instant coordination! (This is probably old hat for traditional scrappers who have been using 2-sided paper for some time, but, hey, I'll catch up!) The card on the bottom middle was blue with the circle/cross pattern. I busted out my watercolors and colored it in going for an ombre look by not loading up my brush with color every time. It didn't come out exactly as I had pictured, but I think it looks cool!
The "Love this" die cut is from a PL value pack. This camera is also from that pack. I fussy cut it out of a 4x4 card and sewed it to coordinating paper. Then I journaled around it. It's unexpected and I like the way it looks! I also think I am starting to really dig the light blue, orange/red combo.
On a side note, I received my Studio Calico documenter kit for March. AND I LOVE IT! It has everything I came to expect from Studio Calico- statement embellishments, bright colors, unexpected coordinating patterns and colors, and the texture of rubber words and chipboard. I am excited about SC again and cannot wait to dig into it! Photo below is a marketing photo of the kit from the website and it is seriously as gorgeous as it looks!
Thanks for reading y'all! Go out and scrap something :)
