2016 PL Memorial Day insert

Hi, everyone! Thanks for coming back to the blog. This is a quick post about an insert I did for my family's Memorial Day celebration. I used a lot of items from my stash!

The color pallette was taken from my nephew's reddish shirt (jumping on the trampoline) and the green grass in the photo with my dog. The title card is made from the "May" card from the Studio Calico documenter kit. I covered up the "May" with a Studio Calico journal card (from the February Documenter kit, I believe) because it went with the patterned paper I chose. The patterned paper is from a 6x6 paper pad, Best of Basic Grey, that I picked up at Tuesday Morning. The Thickers are Amy Tangerine, also from Tuesday Morning. I added a print and cut and label from a Scraptastic kit.

This journaling card is my favorite! It's always tricky to add journaling to a filler card, since there is no white space. I printed my journaling and cut it into strips. I stapled each strip and added a kraft colored arrow that I punched out. I added a bit of pink and gold washi from a Michael's pack. I love how this turned out! I think it kind of looks like a poem even though it's just some basics about the day.

I worked the arrow punch, staples and washi tape into the other pockets to make it feel more cohesive.

That's all! This was a pretty easy layout once I chose my color scheme. Thanks for reading!
